About M+N Geomatics

The company was started by SP De Waal in Bloemfontein in 1992. The shareholders are De Waal and Nortje.

Johan Nortje, who had done his articles at the company, became a partner in 2003, and in January 2006, the partnership became an incorporated company, called De Waal & Nortje Inc.

De Waal & Nortje Land Surveyors have been involved in all the facets of the profession for some 27 years, and have a prominent presence there, with a proven record of reliability and professional service.

Shimane Matlhoko joined the company at the beginning of 2019, after doing his articles at the company, while employed by the state. He is embraced as part of the company’s B-BBEE initiative.

Matlhoko holds a BSc Geomatics degree awarded with honours, from the University of Cape Town; BTech Surveying from Cape Peninsula University of Technology; and National Diploma in Surveying (Cum Laude) from Durban University of Technology. He is a registered Professional Land Surveyor and sectional title practitioner.

Matlhoko is a versatile geomatician with more than 12 years’ work experience. He is experienced in the property surveys (cadastral) where ownership and real rights are dealt with extensively. Other areas of acquired experience are geospatial information management; global navigation satellite systems (GNSS); GIS (topo) data compilation; spatial analysis and queries; geo-referencing of images; creation of datasets and work with geoportals; elevation capture from digital 3D models to produce contours; digital elevation models (DEMs); and performing aerial triangulation in 3D environments to give interior and exterior orientation parameters.
